Course Description: ECO 103 Macroeconomics: 3 credits This course will illustrate the dynamic integration of America within the global economy by focusing on macroeconomics policy areas such as trade, exchange rate policy and domestic economic policy. The course will also introduce students to alternative theoretical frameworks such as classical, Keynesian, monetarism, rational expectations, Marxist, and institutionalist perspectives. The course will explore problems facing the less industrialized countries and the newly emerging countries and the United States role in their development. ECO 104 Microeconomics: 3 credits This course will illustrate the dynamic integration of America within the global economy by focusing on the microeconomics issues such as the role of multinational corporations, antitrust policy, and strategic trade policy. The course will first introduce students to basic microeconomics theory such as market structure (perfect competition, monopoly, monopolistic competition, and oligopoly), factor markets, the role of government in the global economy, welfare reform, environmental policy and trade, and exchange rate policy. The course will then illustrate the global dimensions of domestic microeconomics policy. Modality: Traditional, Face-to-Face Dates/Times: Fall Semester 2024, 9/3/2024-12/18/2024 Macroeconomics: Monday's & Wednesday's 8:00am - 9:05am (3 Credits) Macroeconomics: Monday's & Wednesday's 11:35am -12:40pm (3 Credits) Macroeconomics: Monday's & Wednesday's: 12:50pm- 1:55pm (3 Credits) Microeconomics: Monday's & Wednesday's 9:15am - 10:20am (3 Credits) Compensation: $1,000 per credit, 3 credit courses Pre-Written Courses: Yes Program/College: Concordia finance majors acquire skills in financial theory and practice, investments and portfolio management, money and banking, and international finance. Students come away with a rich knowledge in planning, raising capital, investment and portfolio management, budgeting and assessing risk. The finance program is designed to be responsive to the needs of business. Finance is a relevant major for those considering a variety of careers in investment banking, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, credit cards, traditional banking, treasury, insurance, financial planning, and other financial fields. Course Instruction Responsibilities: Facilitate quality student learning through teaching assigned courses. Increase student course engagement by providing a positive and regular presence within the course (at least four days per week for online courses) by engaging students through course activities and ongoing availability to provide student support. Provide substantive and timely feedback on course assessments, following academic unit and university guidelines, within the Learning Management System, typically within five business days of the assessments' due dates. Respond to student inquiries typically within 24 hours during business days unless otherwise specified at the college level (48 hours on weekends, with closer monitoring if assignments are due during the weekend or on Monday). Work collaboratively in a supportive academic environment, partnering with academic advising, career development, a d the academic team to ensure each student has the resources they need to succeed. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Follow the university and academic unit's policies and procedures. Qualification: Education Required: Master's degree in business, Economics or related field. Education Preferred: Terminal degree in Business or related field. Experience Required: With a Master's degree, at least 5 years of full-time experience in Business is required. With a terminal degree, at least 5 years of full-time experience is preferred.
