The Board of Peace Officers Standards and Training is looking a dedicated individual to administer, coordinate, and maintain the Professional Peace Officer Continuing Education Credit program. This position will oversee the peace officer licensing process, track continuing education credits, and all records associated with the program. This individual will a review all licensing applications for peace officer restorations, administer annual renewal of peace officer licenses and agency policy compliance. This position will have the opportunity to create and implement efficiencies for the continuing education credit, restoration, renewal, and reimbursement processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience to include the following:
Working with Microsoft Office such as Word and Excel.
Experience in and/or knowledge of the peace officer license restoration and/or continuing education processes.
Experience utilizing the Salesforce software system or similar software.
A bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or related field may substitute for one year of experience. An associate degree may substitute for up to 6 months of experience.
Minimum Qualifications assessed at interview:
Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for solving problems including learning new skills to address those problems.
Verbal and written communication skills to convey complicated and procedural information clearly to a varied audience.
Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to think critically and evaluate information for accuracy and appropriateness.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of current POST Rules, MN Statutes, and procedures to accurately audit and maintain knowledge of licensing.
Knowledge of statutes and rules specifically related to continuing education.
Experience working with professional organizations.
Experience identifying, developing, and coordinating training and educational courses.
Knowledge of the CE reimbursement process and related databases and spreadsheets.
Ability to interpret POST Board Rules and state statutes as they apply to continuing education in a professional licensing environment.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools.
May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
