POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES The Commissioning (Cx) Engineer I plays a key role in supporting successful execution of commissioning, re/retro-commissioning (RCx), and energy audit projects. Reporting to the Commissioning Project Manager, this individual will support KFI's commissioning team by supporting the development of projects and reports and executing field activities. Ideally, the person filling this opening will have at least one year of experience doing this type of work, building operations background, an engineering degree, and working knowledge of HVAC systems fundamentals. However, KFI is prepared to hire the right individual, who may be less experienced and does not have these preferred credentials - provided they have the other necessary qualifications. KFI is prepared to invest in the development of the right candidate through internal training and self-driven additional training courses. The successful candidate will have a pragmatic and applied approach, enjoy fieldwork, and effectively interact directly with customers and contractors. They will have a strong attention to detail and will possess effective communication and influencing skills. This person will also be self-directed and will thrive in an environment where consultation and collaboration lead to superior outcomes. Specific core responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: Field Task Execution Work under the supervision of Project Managers to assist with functional testing of HVAC and lighting control systems in the field for commissioning, re-commissioning, and retro-commissioning projects. Work under the supervision of Project Managers to perform test & balance (TAB) measurements and processes in new construction and retro-commissioning applications. Reporting Support Project Managers with technical write-ups of these activities/reports. Project Management Complete assigned tasks within the budgets provided by Project Managers. Assist with development of system construction checklists and functional performance test scripts. Additional Duties may also include the following based upon incoming experience or training over time: Perform Cx/RCx measurements and test scripts of simple systems on their own. Participate in construction and/or commissioning meetings and document representative notes on action items and responsibilities. Review and comment on equipment submittals related to commissioned systems. Assist the Project Manager with RCx energy analysis recommendations and/or Energy Conservation Measure (ECM) calculations. QUALIFICATIONS Required Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. 5+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience. Represent the company in a professional matter. Proficient in use of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others. Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application. Possess a valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel. Travel: M y include up to 25% domestic travel Preferred Experience working with industrial, agribusiness or processing building designs. Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing design. Working Conditions Some work locations will feature the tough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment.
