This position serves our partners at the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). MNIT MnDOT supports an agency with technology integrated into all areas of business. From business intelligence and solutions for critical transportation infrastructure to planning and operating a safe, efficient, and reliable multimodal transportation system, the team connects people and markets across Minnesota.

As the Application and Data Support Specialist, you will provide MNIT DOT application and data support services for commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom-built per the priorities set by the supervisor. You will be responsible for collaborative application and data support in a matrixed environment and has IT service owners, process owners, process managers, architects, and IT team leads that provide direction for the connected IT services. This position will communicate, coordinate, deliver and/or resolve simple to complex application and data support service tasks to ensure MnDOT applications are supported per the application’s service level agreement, support model, and to the satisfaction of the MnDOT business partner.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.

  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Position requires a minimum of two (2) years of IT related experience providing technical application and data support work.

Experience must include:

  • Developing, supporting application and interface using one or more of the following technologies (SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, Power BI or similar reporting tools, Data Integrations, CADD applications).

  • Technical support, configuration and troubleshooting of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), Software as a Service (SAAS), custom-built, middleware, or client applications working across multiple IT services (application, database, infrastructure, and service desk)

  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of MNIT’s services, standards, and processes.

  • Experience supporting transportation applications/systems Prior experience developing and supporting transportation related applications and data.

  • Administering and managing file and access permissions using Microsoft New Technology File System (NTFS), Azure Active Directory (AD), Entra ID, or similar.

  • Prior experience working in CADD, Open Roads Designer (ORD), Bentley Suite of products and ProjectWise environment.

  • Experience in an Agile software development life cycle (SDLC)
