This job will provide you an opportunity to perform important functions in the process to reimburse Minnesota Communities for eligible expenses incurred as a result of natural or man-made disasters.

This position exists to assist applicants in meeting closeout requirements of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Public Assistance (PA) Program with regard to the timely distribution of eligible federal and state dollars received as a result of a Major Disaster Declaration, or an authorization to reimburse eligible applicants under Minnesota Statute Chapter 12B.

This posting will fill multiple openings.

Minimum Qualifications

Two* (2) years of experience that supports an area of specialized knowledge or provides administrative support, paraprofessional, or advanced technical experience.

Experience should include the following:

  1. Working with rules, regulations and administration of federal, state and local government programs.

  2. Working with mathematical equations as they relate to cost estimates and payments.

  3. Computer proficiency; using Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel (i.e. ability to navigate multiple software applications and databases).

  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to convey complicated and procedural information clearly and concisely.

  5. Effective communication skills including delivering group presentations and/or public speaking.

  6. Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

*An associates' degree may substitute for six months of experience; a bachelors' degree may substitute for twelve (12) months of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with state and/or federal programs conducting financial analysis and reporting.

  • Experience working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Public Assistance (PA) Program, Individual Assistance and Hazard Mitigation Programs.

  • Experience working with FEMA's Emergency Management Mission Integrated Environment (EMMIE) Database, SWIFT, EM Grants Pro and Grants Portal.

  • Completed FEMA IS Courses IS-100, IS-200, IS-700 and IS-800.

Physical Requirements

Light: Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
