University of St. Thomas Adjunct Faculty - Sociology in St. Paul, Minnesota

OVERVIEW

The University of St. Thomas Sociology Program within the Department of Justice & Society Studies invites applications for adjunct faculty members to teach one or more sections of Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, or Sociological Analysis (quantitative statistics), or other Sociology courses in the faculty member’s area of expertise. Adjunct appointments are without tenure and are not tenure-track appointments.

This posting is for a pooled, adjunct faculty position for continuous recruitment. Review of candidates is typically done on an annual basis during the month of January.

Teaching load generally ranges from one to two sections per semester, with a preference for in-person instruction, depending upon department needs and enrollments. Most classes are held during daytime hours with courses occasionally offered in the evening.

We seek candidates interested in facilitating meaningful experiences between students and faculty that empower undergraduate students to find success and to solve challenging problems in service of the common good.

Adjunct Faculty Teaching Responsibilities to Include:

  • Deliver instruction using student-engaged pedagogical approaches

  • Provide timely feedback to students re: their grades and progress in course

Qualifications

The required minimum qualifications include a master’s degree in Sociology or a discipline related to the teaching specialty.
