As an Accounting Officer with the Refunds team, you will research, reconcile, and resolve complex refund and account issues for customers.
Our best Accounting Officers work at a high level of accuracy, quickly identify discrepancies, make decisions based on their independent research and applying policies and procedures.
A full-time telework or hybrid telework arrangement is available for this position.
Teleworking employees are required to live in Minnesota or in a state bordering Minnesota.
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years* of para-professional/technical level accounting experience, OR
One (1) year* of professional level accounting experience
*An associate degree may substitute for 6 months of experience. Bachelor's degree may substitute one (1) year of experience; master’s degree substitutes for eighteen (18) months of experience; PhD substitutes for twenty-four (24) months of experience. Majors in Accounting, Finance, or other closely related fields are acceptable.
Applicants who meet the above experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following:
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Ability to interpret federal and state laws and department policies
Knowledge of personal computer operating and software programs used by the department, such as GenTax, Microsoft Office, etc.
Customer service skills
Communication and human relation skills sufficient to establish effective working relationships with customers
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in Gentax.
Knowledge of the Department's refund review policies and procedures.
Experience working with account payable, account receivables and reviewing financial transactions.
Ability to work at a high level of accuracy.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to research and work independently.
Problem solving skills.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, and laptop computer.
