About Ameren Transmission

Ameren Transmission is dedicated to planning, constructing and safely operating over 8,000 transmission miles across a variety of energy markets. We explore opportunities and develop projects that will enhance reliability, improve system performance and increase access to more diverse generation sources for customers across the country.

About The Position

The engineer performs civil and structural design in support of projects, engineering studies, engineering design calculations, and project management activities for the maintenance and renovation of existing, or design and construction of new transmission lines, structures, structure foundations; and other facilities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Perform detailed civil, structural, and foundation design associated with new and aging infrastructure. Work cooperatively with the drafting group to complete drawings. Design typically consists of:

• Deep foundation design to support steel monopoles

• Load development for transmission line structures

• Steel and foundation modifications to existing transmission structures

• Occasional site maintenance of transmission line right of way

• Prepare specifications for materials and construction contracts, bid documents, drawing packages, and assist in the development of cost and schedule estimates.

• Coordinate design activities with other departments and outside companies such as: real estate, drafting, other engineering groups, environmental services, construction crews, contractors, and consulting firms.

• Effectively maintain schedules, track project progress, and manage the civil/structural aspects of large transmission line projects.

• Facilitate/assist acquiring permits to perform construction activities.

• Perform site visits during design and construction activities to ensure quality control.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent degree (i.e. Architectural Engineering), with a structural emphasis, from an accredited college or university is required.

• 0-2 years' experience in civil/structural/foundation engineering preferred.

• It is strongly preferred that the applicant has taken and passed (or awaiting results from) the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam. The successful candidate is expected to agree to take and pass the FE Exam within their first year of hire with Ameren.

• Candidate must be willing to pursue and ultimately obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) License in Missouri and/or Illinois.

• Familiarity with ACI and AISC is strongly preferred; ASCE and IBC are preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Good analytical, written and verbal communication, and human relations skills. The ability to work effectively as

part of a team. Ability to handle multiple projects with varying completion dates.
