The Cigna Group Staff Accountant - Hybrid in St. Louis, Missouri
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Finance's primary responsibilities include financial reporting & analysis, corporate taxes, accounts payable, billing and collections, financial planning and monitoring, underwriting, cash management, risk management, SEC reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, mergers and acquisitions activity, internal audit, client audit, pharmacy audit and investor relations.
Description
This position will be responsible for preparing, loading month end journal entries, treasury and banking functions. This role will also be responsible for preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, performing analysis and reporting functions, and SOX controls.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Processing accurate monthly journal entries
Process deposits and disbursements
Prepare reconciliations
Assist with analyzing data and reporting
Assist internal & external auditors with monthly, quarterly reviews and year-end audit
Other projects/assignments as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent
0-2 years relevant experience
PC skills, Microsoft Office programs, strong Excel skills
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Proficiency in accounting processes, procedures, and controls
Experience in general ledger account analysis/reconciliation
Experience working with cross functional departments to research and resolve issues
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage a heavy workload
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate departmental and project deadlines.
Ability to work independently and within a team
