We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Engineering Co-op to join our dynamic Motor Engineering Lab team at Copeland. This role offers a hands-on experience in a cutting-edge engineering environment, focusing on the development, testing, and optimization of motor technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers and technicians, contributing to various aspects of motor engineering projects.
As a Mechanical Engineering Co-op, Your Responsibilities will Include:
Engineering Support: Assist in engineering analysis activities, which may include but are not limited to:
Dynamometer development and troubleshooting for production and R&D.
Hardware design for motor testing and prototyping fixturing.
Design of Experiments (DoE) for testing methodologies and process improvements.
Prototyping and Product Evaluation:
Engage in rapid prototyping activities to develop and test new motor designs.
Participate in product evaluation sessions, providing insights and data analysis to support product development decisions.
Materials Engineering:
Contribute to materials testing and selection processes aimed at enhancing motor efficiency and durability.
Lab Operations:
Assist in maintaining lab safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all safety standards.
Participate in lab organization efforts under the 5S methodology (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
Team Collaboration:
Regularly attend and contribute to stand-up engineering lab meetings, providing updates on tasks and discussing project progress.
Work alongside engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative environment conducive to innovation.
Professional Development:
Participate in projects that offer practical application of theoretical knowledge from academic studies.
Required Education, Experience & Skills::
Undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or related field
Sophomore or higher class status
Background in engineering principles relevant to motor design and testing
Experience with CAD software, data analysis tools, or lab equipment is a plus
Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Good communication skills, capable of articulating technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
Commitment to safety and adherence to lab protocols
Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role
