The Benefits Specialist role is responsible for overseeing various aspects of benefits administration, including enrollment, communication, compliance, and resolving benefit-related issues. This position will work closely with associates and external benefit providers to ensure that benefits programs are effectively communicated and administered in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry practices. The primary goal of the Benefits Specialist is to facilitate smooth operations and provide exceptional service to associates, ensuring they have access to the benefits they need and that their inquiries or concerns are addressed promptly and accurately.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Responsible for ensuring associates have a clear understanding of their benefits and that their inquiries or concerns are addressed promptly and accurately. This may include communicating plan details, eligibility requirements, and enrollment processes, as well as working with providers to resolve any issues related to benefits such as claim or coverage disputes.

  • Develop and maintain company-specific documents with current and accurate information. These documents should be clear and easy to understand, ensuring the associates have the information needed to make informed decisions.

  • Manage the new hire enrollments, life events, and annual open enrollment process by facilitating orientations, auditing elections, and ensuring information is properly transmitted to carriers.

  • Prepare monthly billing by calculating, reconciling, and processing payments through accounting for all benefit providers.

  • Conduct periodical audits and analyze data to ensure data integrity across platforms.

  • Troubleshoot routine and non-routine matters relating to the administration of benefits, recommending solutions to rectify the issue to prevent future issues of the same nature.

  • Organize and execute wellness programs and initiatives in alignment with broader strategies to promote associate health and well-being.

  • Assist with the administration of associate leaves of absence as needed by acting as a liaison between associates, HR teams, and the third-party absence management provider.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of the benefits administration process.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration preferred.

  • 5-8 years of related benefits experience preferred.

  • Experience within an HRIS system, specifically UKG, preferred.

  • Proactive, detail oriented, accurate, and self-directed.

  • Able to quickly adapt and prioritize activities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Have excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Experience analyzing and organizing data in Excel.
