The basic purpose of this position is to oversee facility and animal care equipment systems at the Cosby site, as well as act as a site liaison for maintenance and engineering projects. These projects will include the general maintenance and upkeep of a farm site, construction/renovation of facilities, or installation of equipment.
The Animal Care Equipment and Facility Manager will ensure required levels of maintenance are met to ensure efficient/compliant site operations. The incumbent will perform hands on basic maintenance projects while providing oversight and prioritizing work orders performed by the maintenance team. This role will provide end-to-end coordination of installation, maintenance and decommissioning of site systems. This position will be able to operate and maintain the site vehicles and tractors.
The Animal Care Equipment and Facility Manager has established and proven leadership skills, will follow projects from beginning to end, develops systems to monitor facility performance and works to prevent system facility failure. The incumbent is a self-starter, demonstrates the ability to gather data, propose and implement solutions to projects. Assist troubleshooting technical problems and operational issues. This person will be an active member of the site leadership team.
This position will review and develop departmental procedures (SOP's) in compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policy and procedures. This role will monitor multiple maintenance/mechanical systems (hazardous waste, water analysis.). The incumbent holds a basic understanding and reviews utility, process system/ equipment, plumbing, ductwork plans, architectural, and HVAC P&ID’s as well as uses knowledge of schematics to interpret building automated systems.
The Animal Care Equipment and Facility Manager will be responsible for ensuring facilities and enclosures meet animal welfare guidelines, will be able to follow biosecurity procedures, and will be comfortable working with and around large and small animals. The incumbent will monitor and approve all visitor and contractor site access in conjunction with security.
This position is responsible for monitoring BMS and must be able to respond to and address issues with site systems on a 24/7 basis with on-call procedures and after hours support when needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Maintains systems and related process improvements to ensure reliable and compliant site equipment for animal facility.
Performs and executes basic maintenance activities to complete production and facility repairs and will require a basic understanding of utility, process system/ equipment, plumbing, ductwork plans, architectural, HVAC P&ID’s, and motorized vehicles.
Submits and prioritizes work orders of production equipment and preventive maintenance.
Ensures animal facilities, enclosures, and equipment adhere to animal welfare guidelines and meet biosecurity requirements.
Aids in data gathering, assists with scope design, estimating, proposals, and implementation of small site projects.
Assists with troubleshooting technical problems and operational issues.
Prioritizes project support activities between individuals and site.
Fosters relationships with team members, internal stakeholders, and contracted vendors to provide quintessential service.
Responsible for organization of equipment and farm supplies within animal facilities, barns, and exterior properties.
Monitors multiple maintenance/mechanical systems (hazardous waste, and water analysis, etc.).
Ensures compliance with corporate policies, GXP regulations as applicable, site policies and procedures local, state, federal, and international codes, and regulations.
Reviews and develops departmental procedures and SOPs.
Ensures site blueprints and legends are updated and accurate.
Assists with controlling access to site by approving all site badge access for visitors and contractors in conjunction with security.
Requirements
- High School Degree or GED with a minimum of ten (10) years in one or a combination of more of the following areas: Utility Operations/Maintenance (Electric and Plumbing), Control Systems, and/or HVAC Operations/Maintenance or related area.
OR
- Associate degree in agricultural, scientific, business, or related field with a minimum of eight (8) years in one or a combination of more of the following areas: Utility Operations/Maintenance (Electric and Plumbing), Control Systems, and/or HVAC Operations/Maintenance or related area.
OR
Bachelor degree is preferred, in agricultural, scientific, business, or related field with a minimum of six (6) years in one or a combination of more of the following areas: Utility Operations/Maintenance (Electric and Plumbing), Control Systems, and/or HVAC Operations/Maintenance or related area.
Ability to monitor, respond to, and address alarms with site systems on a 24/7 basis with on-call procedures and after hours support when needed.
Additional Experience:
Experience leading projects.
Able to operate skid steer and small tractor equipment.
Should have an understanding and knowledge of farm environment.
Ability to follow all animal welfare and biosecurity guidelines.
Ability to communicate effectively with various internal and external stakeholder groups.
Possesses basic computer skills required for business communication and documentation of maintenance activities.
Ability to create vision and clearly communicate and implement.
Possesses well developed problem solving/decision making skills.
Must be an agile learner with demonstrated ability to seek necessary resources and/or skills to advance technical ability and understanding of technical equipment and systems.
Eligibility Requirements :
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
Must be 18 years of age or older.
