TYPE OF POSITION: Non-Represented Hourly 10-Month Hours may vary based on program needs REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Equity Programs SUPERVISION: None QUALIFICATIONS: Required * A.A. Degree or equivalent education and qualifying experience * Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, families and school personnel in a diverse environment * Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple assignments Preferred * Bachelor's Degree in Education or closely related field * Experience in a K-12 school setting and familiarity with best practices in youth development, cultural competency and special education KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of school equity program administration; ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in both oral and written forms; ability to work with administrators, teachers and support staff to support inclusive school culture; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, consultants, associates, school officials and the general public. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Supervisor of Equity Programs and Director of Elementary Education, this position promotes School District 742's mission and core values by assisting administrators, staff, students and families in navigating and resolving cultural obstacles to student access to honors/AP courses at the middle level. Effectively communicates with families, students, and school staff. Assists students and families in accessing TDAS and honors/AP programs and services. Works as a team member with all school staff to improve students' academic performance, achievement, attendance and/or behaviors. Assists Administrators in the resolution of school issues relating to cultural differences or perspectives between school culture and home culture, supporting connection to families to resources in the school and in the community. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * Student empowerment and celebration through incentivized community opportunities * SEL support * Family connection- clear and consistent communication * Communication for all stakeholders, especially middle school staff * Student check ins-support for academic, SEL, goal setting etc * Definition of programming established and communicated, highlight understanding of diverse gifted learners for middle school staff * Relationships student to student and teacher to student to sustain accessibility and belonging * Clear connection of TDAS staff to building support systems like MTSS * High academic success for students receiving support * Opportunities to collaborate creatively to supporting students * Assist in building connections between parents and learning community, specific to Middle Level TDAS * Work closely with administrators, teachers, and parents/guardians to support student success in school, including academic performance, attendance and/or behavior * Serve as a resource in the schools to meet the needs of students and their families, specific to Middle Level TDAS * Develop and maintain effective relationships with staff, parents, and students, and interact in a manner that models intercultural sensitivity and respect * Assists schools in creating an inclusive environment for Middle Level TDAS students throughout the School District and in identifying barriers and obstacles to access, inclusion and belonging * Through partnership with district leaders and communities of color, will work toward the following goals: Improve and sustain improved attendance for Middle Level TDAS students of color and identified student groups Increase parent involvement in the school community Increase graduation rates for students of color, identified student groups, and secondary/elementary students Improve and validate the self-concept, identity, and culture of identified students * Enthusiastically promotes the School Districts goals and priorities in compliance w th all policies and procedures * Assist and support students with cultural adjustment and social/emotional development to promote school success * Encourage parents to attend and be active in all meetings and empower them to voice their concerns, needs, opinions and priorities * Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL FACTORS: * Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing All Employees of Saint Cloud School District 742 are responsible to support District goals, to work collaboratively and respectfully with diverse populations of staff, students and parents and to model and promote a welcoming working and learning environment.
