We are currently interviewing School Social Workers in and around St. Claire Shores who have a genuine passion for working with children and adolescents, possess strong interpersonal skills, and exhibit empathy and sensitivity in addressing student needs. 

In this collaborative environment, you'll:

  • Provide on-site support to elementary students (primarily 3rd-5th) facing academic, social, or emotional challenges.

  • Work alongside teachers, administrators, and families to develop and implement impactful interventions.

  • Support a self-contained classroom and run group lessons 2x week.

  • Empower students through individual counseling, group sessions, and social-emotional learning initiatives.

  • Become an integral part of the school community, building positive relationships and fostering a supportive environment.

    Responsibilities: 

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students to address personal, social, and academic issues. 

  • Develop and implement intervention strategies to improve student behavior and academic performance. 

  • Conduct social-emotional assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans. 

  • Respond to and manage crisis situations involving students, including mental health emergencies and family crises. 

  • Provide support and resources to students and families in times of crisis. 

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to develop and implement strategies to support student success. 

  • Consult with parents, guardians, and external agencies to coordinate services and resources for students. 

  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and provide input on social-emotional goals and supports. 

  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives to promote a positive school climate and address issues such as bullying, attendance, and mental health. 

  • Conduct workshops and training sessions for students, parents, and staff on topics related to social-emotional learning and well-being. 

  • Advocate for students' needs and rights within the school and the broader community. 

  • Connect students and families with community resources and services, including mental health providers, social services, and other support agencies. 

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions, assessments, and interventions. 

    Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work

  • Must possess S310 form- Approval to work in MI schools

  • Previous school social work experience is preferred.
