POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a Senior Applications Developer, whom under general direction, is responsible for working from requirements defined by users and/or Business Analysts. Use standard procedures and techniques to maintain or modify existing application programs, or to develop new applications programs of varying complexity and scope. The Senior Application Developer will always model LMI values and principles and act in a manner consistent with the LMI Code of Business Conducts and Ethics.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Works with internal users to define requirements,

  • Develops system and programming designs and specifications, and

  • Uses standard procedures and techniques to maintain, modify, devise new or existing application programs of varying complexity and scope.

  • Assist other Analysts as required in evaluating requirements and recommend enhancements/changes to the architecture when applicable

  • Identifies all aspects of the assigned problem and evaluates user requirements in terms of the capabilities of the available software.

  • Develops the documentation, which outlines the logical steps to be followed in solving the problem and prepares system specifications including input and output formats and flowcharts.

  • Writes, debugs, tests, documents and maintains programs.

  • perform other duties including iSeries system administration.

  • Coordinates with other programmers, IT management, users, and software suppliers.

  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings.

  • Participates in special projects or performs other tasks as identified by management.

  • Establishes and meets responsible deadlines and personal work plans.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field or a minimum of 8 years of related work experience.

  • Familiarity with analysis and programming RPG.

  • Proven knowledge of RPG III, RPG IV, ILE, CL, subfiles, display files and OS/400

  • Familiarity working with FTP, sFTP EDI data interfaces

  • Writing complex SQL procedures/functions

  • Familiarity with Rocket/Aldon or similar Change Management software

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities and shifting time requirements. Must be able to promote a participative, team-oriented environment, working with customers (both internal and external), all employees, vendors and others in a professional respectful manner.

  • Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, employees, and vendors.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to compile and present data in a format that facilitates information sharing and decision making.
