The Junior Systems Enterprise Monitoring Engineer is responsible for coordinating with network engineers to support the configuration and access of the Government Customer’s Enterprise Infrastructure of all assets relating to Enterprise Management monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Provide network engineering operations support

  • Ensure that all transport devices across the customer network classifications can communicate with Enterprise Management Infrastructure core tools

  • Monitor systems utilizing tools such as: OpenText Network Automation, OpenText Network Node Manager, or similar monitoring tools.

  • Assist in providing analysis and recommendations pertaining to network optimization and enhancements in order to support integration with Enterprise Management Tools.

  • Assist with monitoring via integration services and security audit and design.

  • Assist in troubleshooting technical and design issues.

  • Work with Transport engineers to properly relate SNMP events to actionable events.

  • Assist with providing for the integration of new capabilities into monitoring solutions

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area with 2+ years of experience or

  • Associate’s Degree and 4+ years of experience or

  • High School Diploma and 6+ years of experience

  • Active TS/SCI

  • Experience to include:

  • Network management and support, integration services, security audit and design

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper routers, bridges, switches, storage area networks, network security, and network monitoring systems in a UNIX and Windows environment is required

  • Network design and engineering, TCP/IP network design, routing protocols, OSI model, SNMP, RMON, routing protocols (OSPF & BGP)

  • IP networking

  • Linux and Windows operating systems

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to obtain CI Poly

  • Ability to obtain Security+ CE certification within 6 months of employment

  • Working knowledge of customer network infrastructure is preferred

  • Ability to produce well-written technical documentation and occasional technical briefs

  • Knowledge of IT security concepts and practices

  • Ability to work with strict deadlines in an operational/tactical environment

  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral

  • Ability to multi-task
