Amentum Mechanical Engineer in Springfield, Virginia

Amentum is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Springfield, VA to support our mission critical customer.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Government security clearance.

Responsibilities and Duties include:

  • Performs engineering calculations, prepares specifications, performs analyses, performs testing, issues reports and maintains related data on complex facility infrastructure systems.

  • Reviews and approves drawings as required.

  • Ensures quality, quantity, and completeness of infrastructure related projects.

  • Provides technical guidance to trades personnel working on mechanical systems.

  • Reviews and recommends specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services, or construction.

  • Fully versed with the process of preparing and checking of calculations in support of building HVAC systems.

  • Can oversee the review and checking of construction and vendor drawings.

  • Leads or assists with the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor it to aid in evaluating against budgets and schedules.

  • Leads estimating tasks and performs material take-offs for construction and infrastructure upgrades.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • At least 5 years of job-related experience.

  • Knowledge of government regulations, codes and standard.

  • Working knowledge of building management systems such as CMMS and BAS.

  • Working knowledge of the operation and repair of chillers, boilers, motors, pumps, HVAC unit and UPS systems.

  • Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain Professional Engineer registration in any state.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Government Security clearance.
