HOW AN AUDIO VISUAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

As an Audio Visual Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining state-of-the-art AV systems. You will work closely with both on-site and remote users to ensure optimal performance of AV equipment, coordinate upgrades, and provide expert support for a wide range of audio-visual technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement AV systems including video conferencing, digital signage, and presentation systems

  • Install, configure, and maintain AV equipment such as projectors, displays, sound systems, and control systems

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex AV issues in a timely manner

  • Manage AV network infrastructure and ensure integration with existing IT systems

  • Plan and execute AV system upgrades and migrations

  • Provide training to end-users on AV equipment operation and best practices

  • Develop and maintain documentation for AV system configurations and processes

  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure AV systems align with overall technology strategy

  • Manage inventory of AV equipment and coordinate with vendors for procurement and maintenance

  • Ensure AV systems comply with security protocols and accessibility standards

  • Stay current with emerging AV technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Audio Visual Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of experience in AV systems design, installation, and maintenance

  • Strong knowledge of AV technologies including video conferencing, digital signal processing, and control systems

  • Experience with AV network protocols and IP-based AV systems

  • Proficiency in AV system design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio)

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex AV issues

  • Security+ certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire

  • TS/SCI Clearance required and eligibility to obtain CI Poly

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Willingness to provide occasional after-hours support for critical AV systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds

  • Comfort with working at heights (e.g., on ladders or lifts) for equipment installation

Desired Skills:

  • CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) certification

  • Experience with Crestron, Extron, or AMX control systems

  • Knowledge of acoustics and audio system design

  • Familiarity with HDCP, EDID, and other video standards

  • Experience with digital signal processors (DSPs) and audio networking protocols

  • Understanding of AV over IP technologies

  • Familiarity with AV security best practices and compliance requirements

The likely salary range for this position is $97,258 - $131,584. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
