As a Vocational Support Specialist, you'll provide on-site and off-site training and support for clients during skill development, career planning, and employment retention. Your role will involve conducting instructional activities related to soft skills, work skills, and independent living skills. You may also be responsible for locating competitive job sites in the community, contacting employers, and conducting job site analyses. This position requires a compassionate approach, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to diverse client needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized service plans for clients, focusing on skill development, career planning, and employment retention

  • Conduct instructional activities to enhance clients' pre-vocational, social, and independent living skills

  • Provide on-site job support to assist clients in learning job duties, interacting with co-workers, and developing natural supports

  • Coordinate paid, work-based learning experiences for clients in individual and group settings

  • Establish community-based sites for skill development and career planning activities

  • Serve as a liaison between employers, clients, and co-workers to facilitate workplace integration

  • Educate employers on the benefits of hiring persons with disabilities and facilitate job accommodations

  • Monitor and report on clients' progress toward individualized service plan goals

  • Create and maintain employer relationships to develop competitive, integrated employment opportunities

  • Advocate for clients with employers, referral sources, and other stakeholders

  • Promote the organization and its services through community events and awareness activities

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate required

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in an applicable field from an accredited institution preferred

  • Experience in rehabilitation, employment services, case management, social services, or other applicable experience preferred

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and current auto insurance required

  • Strong customer service skills and effective verbal and written communication abilities

  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Word, Excel, and internet platforms

  • Understanding of supporting individuals with disabilities and/or barriers to employment, education, and independent living

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally

  • Must have or be willing to obtain certification in CPR/First Aid

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight shifts
