RECOVERY OUTREACH SERVICES LLC Peer Support Specialist in SPRINGFIELD, Missouri

The Peer Support Specialist provides support, advocacy, and guidance to individuals facing substance use challenges. Drawing from their own lived expereices, the Peer Support Specialist offers a unique perspective to help clients navigate their recovery journey, promote wellness, and achieve personal goals. Thisrole is crucial in fostering a sense of community, hope, and resilience among those served.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and Advocacy:
    • Provide one-on-one support to clients, sharing personal experiences of recovery to inspire hope and empowerment.
    • Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the healthcare system and other community resources.
    • Assist clients in development self-advocacy skills.
  • Mentorship and Guidance:
    • Offer guidance in developing and implementing recovery plans.
    • Help clients set and achieve personal goals related to wellness, housing, employment, education, and social relationships.
    • Support clients in identifying and overcoming obstacles to their recovery.
  • Resource Navigation:
    • Connect clients with appropriate community resources and services, including housing, employment, and education.
    • Facilitate access to support groups, workshops, and educational programs.
  • Group Facilitation:
    • Lead peer support groups and workshops focused on recovery and wellness topics.
    • Encourage group participation and mutal support among members.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work cloesly with clinical staff, case managers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
    • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions.
  • Documentation
    • Maintain accurate and timely records of client interactions, progress, and services provided.
    • Ensure all documentation complies with organization policies and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivlant.
  • Certification as a Peer Support Specialist (must be obtained in the first 30 days of employment).
  • Excellent interpersonal communcation skills. Ability to empathize with and relate to clients.
  • Strong organization and time management abilities.
  • Understanding of recovery principles, peer support practices, and community resources.
