Center for Human Development Senior Family Caseworker in Springfield, Massachusetts

Senior Family Caseworker Job Category: Direct Service Full-Time Diversion, Shelter and Housing Programs Springfield, MA 01108, USA Job Details Description Overall responsibility for a 24-hour staffed shelter. Supervise direct care staff and family caseworkers; oversee staff scheduling and documentation; utilization of an Efforts to Outcome data system; serve as a liaison to external providers and the community at-large. Provide direct services to program residents that live in a shelter setting in the community. Responsibilities include supporting residents\' activities of daily living, advocating for individuals within various community settings, and providing opportunities to optimize independence. Develop professional and supportive relationships with residents and provide informal counseling and guidance with a person-centered focus. Provides overall orientation to program guidelines/responsibilities and to unit/neighborhood, including: location of grocery stores, schools, and medical facilities; available programming and referrals; and local transportation system Engaging families and encouraging them to take advantage of case management Developing a helping relationship while simultaneously emphasizing accountability Assisting families in accessing all available entitlements such as HomeBASE funds, relocation or fuel assistance, and RAFT Assessing family needs, providing information, discussing problems, identifying patterns and stressors, and encouraging growth and development Offering parenting support and educational opportunities to parents as well as education on food shopping, storage, and preparation, housekeeping, laundry, and budgeting/banking Modeling good parenting skills in both structural and informal ways Participating in ongoing curriculum development geared toward self-sufficiency and stabilization Transporting families or individuals in matters related to service delivery, e.g. appointments with the Department of Transitional Assistance Providing crisis intervention Notifying management staff immediately in the event of a client crisis, suspected illegal activity, or any behavior constituting an incident in the program Making appropriate referrals for on-going services Maintaining daily contact with families to assure they are fully engaged with program expectations and able to communicate any issues and concerns they may have Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities The contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
