Position Title: After School Group Leader Division: Youth Services Reports to: Site Coordinator Time Commitment: Part-Time, M-F 2:30pm-6pm Location: MLK Community Center/ MLK Charter School Salary Range: \$16.00 per hour Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Site Coordinator, Group Leader is responsible for supervising, planning implementing and organizing daily educational and recreational activities for their group. Group Leaders are dynamic, fun loving, dedicated and caring individuals responsible for preparing and facilitating small group instruction and activities for children in an after-school or summer camp setting. Duties & Responsibilities: Must enjoy being around children. Help plan, organize and facilitate age-appropriate, thematic-based activities, including field trips. Interact with all program participants and look for opportunities to invoke fun and excitement amongst participants. Participate in the overall program planning and development activities. Maintain a daily attendance record of children\'s participation. Attend staff meetings and participate in the general efforts of the program and 12 hours of required trainings annually. Inform the Center Director of disciplinary concerns and take responsibility for behavior management of youth. Assist with continuing and end of day clean-up of facility and ensure that equipment and supplies are returned to storage and properly maintained. Responsible for the coordination and delivery of youth development programs and activities in your assigned group. Assists in the supervision of volunteers and youth appropriately within EEC guidelines. Writes any reports/incidents as needed related to youth program activities. Must be available to do other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Site Director and/or immediate supervisor. Be able to uphold and adhere to all program and agency policies and procedures. Qualifications: Group Leaders must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Have at least 1 year of supervised experience working with school-aged children, OR 6 months of supervised experience AND at least 3 credits in Child Growth and Development, Human Development, Elementary Education or a related field. Ability to develop strong relationships with youth, think creatively and actively problem solve Must possess strong classroom management skills. Demonstrated ability to develop activity plans Prior after-school or summer camp experience is a plus. Have a physical exam with positive results, negative TB and meet CORI standards. CPR and First Aid certification must be completed within 30 days of hire if not already obtained.
