This position provides overall project management responsibility for assigned digital transformation projects and cost savings opportunities that contribute to business growth and efficiencies. Responsibility also includes providing project management support to activities relating to the long-range plan, and existing near-term goals. Leadership skills in working with a cross-functional team through roadblocks and issues that would impede progress are required. Demonstrated ability to influence across business units and effectively coordinate external and internal resources is needed along with a project management track record leading and delivering large complex projects. The successful candidate will serve as a mentor and an example for best-in-class project management. This position will be accountable for overseeing all aspects of assigned projects and ensures commitment to scope, schedule and budget are met. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, manages schedule and key milestones and summarizes project progress. Builds and maintains working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments contributing to the projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and or implementation of projects.
  • Facilitate the definition of project mission, goals, tasks and resource requirements.
  • Use disciplined project management methodology to define scope, develop project plan, and execute projects that adhere to guidelines and deliver within cost and schedule.
  • Delivering all projects on time, within budget and meeting the desired outcomes and business requirements.
  • Tracking project milestones, anticipating risks & issues, proactive risk mitigation and making recommendations to business and IT leadership to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Resolve or assist in the resolution of conflicts within or between projects or functional areas.
  • Develop methods to monitor project or area progress and provide corrective supervision if necessary.
  • Responsible for assembling the project staff; for their technical or functional performance during the projects.
  • Manage project budget and resource allocation.
  • Strong cross-business unit / functional IT communication, influencing and negotiation to drive project results.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plan and charter.
  • Effectively manage select vendors review their billings and ensure integrity of their deliverables.
  • Facilitate the definition of acceptability criteria with the project customer users of the solution.
  • Guide and oversee all members of the project team in the planning of their tasks.
  • Work cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes.
  • Follow defined agreed upon project management methodology\'s and agreed upon PMO processes.
  • Communicate project progress by producing project reports to provide timely and accurate project status and decision support information to project team, department and management, Steering Committee and PMO.
  • Ensuring project closure including completion of lessons learned and required documentation.
  • May have to participate in the design and or testing phases as SME.
  • Provide key business insights and continuous improvement opportunities.

Requirements

Education: BA or BS degree in computer science mathematics operations management or other related discipline. Equivalent experience may be acceptable.

Experience:

  • 6+ years of proven experience as a project manager
  • Fluent in PMO methodologies and standards with planning, development & implementation experience.
  • Creation, management and ownership of key deliverables in a PMLC / SDLC framework.
  • Expertise in creating work breakdown structures, risk management techniques, cost estimating, schedule development and other concepts associated with project management methodologies.
  • Analytical with attention to detail as well as ability to understand the big picture and impacts to cross functional areas.
  • Experience with IT SDLC methodologies and delivering projects using a combination of waterfall and agile delivery methods.
  • Proven record of leading project execution activities in a complex matrix environment to deliver results for business and IT stakeholders.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to schedule and manage resource capacity required of cross-functional projects spanning multiple IT groups 500 - 5000 hours.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally and the ability to tailor messaging to different levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects on time meeting requirements and with high team satisfaction including complex projects and projects involving a number of project staff and users.
