Ultium Cells Environmental Engineer in Spring Hill, Tennessee
An Engineering Degree (Environmental/Chemical/Industrial/Mechanical/Electric.) highly preferred
Ultium Cells is a joint venture lithium-Ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solutions and General Motors. This new construction high-technology plant will have the latest battery cell manufacturing technology. The investment in this new business venture represents a commitment of more than $2.6 Billion. It will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors North American electric vehicle applications.

Job Description:
This is an exciting opportunity for you to work in a premiere battery facility, Ultium Cells. As an Environmental Engineer, you will design and implement environmental programs that allow you to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals to manage environmental compliance and conformance. We are currently looking for talented individuals who have a passion for the environment and who want to assist making Ultium Cells a leader in environmental compliance and sustainability.
Starting at $77,000 per year and up based on experience.
Responsibilities:
Grow to understand the plant manufacturing systems including production processes, wastewater discharges, storm water management, air emissions impacts, sewer systems, chemical usage, and waste management/recycling programs, to ensure effective decision-making and regulatory compliance
Conduct facility and site visits to gather information for written project work
Write technical reports and support development of client proposals
Work with various industrial clients
Comprehend and interpret regulations and guidelines
Develop working relationships and communicate effectively with supervisor, project directors, project managers, project team members, clients, and regulators
Monitor environmental parameters and progress to provide recommendations for continuous improvement
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of direct environmental experience in SWPPP, SPCC, wastewater, Title V air compliance or RCRA hazardous waste experience.
Proficient in Air Permitting, Storm Water Permitting, Wastewater Permitting and/or Large Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator Requirements
Complete and/or support technical projects related to environmental due diligence and environmental compliance
Experience in environmental engineering or related science, preferably at a manufacturing operation.
Design systems and tools that protect the air, water, soil and other parts of the natural environment
Inspect and evaluate projects to ensure compliance with environmental legal regulations
Write and present reports on environmental engineering projects
Provide technical support and advice about environmental cleanup to government agencies, private businesses and citizen groups
Research potential environmental impacts of proposed developments
Data analysis
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in Environmental Engineering or Chemical engineering or related sciences preferred.
