Job Description
Security Engineering is responsible for the entire lifecycle management of cyber and physical security infrastructure (evaluating, design, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance). These objectives are completed through use of Agile/Scrum to deliver products and solutions. Responsible for ownership and contribution to security processes, procedures, standards, and guidelines that support the overall security posture and business initiatives. Works closely with other operations team members in a 24/7/365 on call rotation model to respond to both cyber and physical security system outages.
Responsibilities
Performs security assessments and evaluates technology implementations for risks under direction
Participates in projects and recommends and evaluates technology implementations for adherence to security policies, standards, and best practices under direction.
Configures and implements security technologies with minimal direction (SIEM, IPS, Antivirus, Password Vaults, CASB, Endpoint Security, Next Gen Firewalls, WAFs, Proxies, Vulnerability Scanners, MS 365, and AWS platforms) with supervision.
Participates in the gathering of requirements and analysis of security solutions with special consideration to licensing models, total cost of ownership, and strategic alignment.
Collaborates with internal subject matter experts in all areas of technology and utility planning and operations stakeholder.
Designs and implements security technologies and provides contributions on others technology projects.
Produces operational documentation and provides technical support for various cyber and physical security solutions under direction and as part of a 24/7/365 on-call rotation.
Requirements
Security Engineer, Jr:
BA/BS in Cyber Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, MIS, Data Science, or a related field/experience.
- 3 years of related experience in two disciplines (security, technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations).
General knowledge of:
Security-related hardware and software (SIEM, IPS, Antivirus, UBA, CASB, Endpoint Security, Next Gen Firewalls, Proxies).
Operating systems (Unix, Windows, Cisco IOS, Apple iOS, Android OS, AWS, or Azure).
Network systems, (Firewalls, routers, switches).
Security and compliance frameworks (NIST 800-53, COBIT, ISO 27001, HIPAA, NERC CIP).
Security Engineer:
BA/BS in Cyber Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, MIS, Data Science, or a related field/experience.
SANS GIAC Certified in at least one specialty.
- 6 years of related experience in two disciplines (security, technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations).
Technical Proficiency in security-related hardware and software (SIEM, IPS, Antivirus, UBA, CASB, Endpoint Security, Next Gen Firewalls, Proxies).
Hands on experience with some operating systems (Unix, Windows, Cisco IOS, Apple iOS, Android OS, AWS, or Azure) and with network systems, (Firewalls, routers, switches).
Knowledge of some security and compliance frameworks (NIST 800-53, COBIT, ISO 27001, HIPAA, NERC CIP).
In-depth knowledge of some of the following:
Methods and motivations adopted by hackers to attack IT platforms and automated information systems
Security incident management processes and tools
Security forensic techniques, tools and procedure
Operations and support organizations
Security risk assessment
Security Engineer, Sr:
BA/BS in Cyber Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, MIS, Data Science, or a related field / experience
SANS GIAC Certified in at least one specialty
- 8 years of related experience in two disciplines (security, technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations)
Expert in security-related hardware, software, operating systems, network systems, and compliance frameworks from the senior previous level
Expert knowledge of the previous level categories listed
