Job Description Responsible for the design and implementation of gas and electric metering data collection systems, including the coordination of all digital and analog metering signals from origination to dissemination and reporting. Operates and supports data translation applications and services on all automated and telemetry metering collection systems. Administers and maintains customer and energy account data. Initiates and processes energy consumption reports for billing purposes.
Responsibilities
- Manages Avista's legacy metering systems; TWACS, Fixed Network, and MV90.
- Monitors read rates of Avista's legacy metering systems.
- Troubleshoots issues with Avista's legacy metering systems to ensure system stability and performance.
- Monitors failure rates of equipment on Avista's legacy metering systems and initiates adequate purchasing of replacement equipment to ensure system stability and performance.
- Research and test alternative equipment to replace obsoleted metering equipment.
- Collaborates with equipment manufactures to resolve metering issues and/or system performance issues.
- Collaborates with various departments to ensure that issues with Avista's legacy metering systems are resolved appropriately.
- Provide training and support for Meter Technicians as needed/requested.
- Manage Meter Programming applications/software, i.e. MeterMate, PC Pro, etc.
- Manage and create meter specific programs.
- Provide technical support for Metering test equipment (WECO, Warm-up Boards, FC300, Austin Sentry 950, Power Density Meter).
- Provides support for the transition of Avista's legacy metering systems to an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system.
- Provides the same level of support for Avista's AMI system as described above for Avista's legacy metering systems.
- Other responsibilities as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in ABET accredited Engineering Program in Electrical Engineering.
- Effective and flexible communication skills.
Engineer:
- Minimum of four (4) years engineering work experience required.
Sr. Engineer:
- Professional Engineering License.
- Minimum of eight (8) years engineering work experience required.
- Demonstrated skills illustrating their use of productivity, presentation, and analytical tools specific to his/her area of expertise.
- Demonstrated technical leadership within engineering.
- Demonstrated positive and effective working relationships with internal and external parties.
- Advanced knowledge, skills, technical proficiency and abilities as demonstrated by a professional engineering license.
- Specialty technical proficiency, project leadership, and ability to be self-directed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with data management: (collection, central processing, storage & retrieval, report generation, archival, etc.).
Experience with communication circuits and data telemetry.
Good understanding of microelectronics.
Networking experience and understanding of the networking OSI model.
Understanding of Manufacturing Processes (related to Metering equipment) and FCC limits and applicants.
Understanding of Electronics manufacturing practices (Manufacturing Assembly, Circuit Board Design, Surface Mount Technology and Through Hole Wave Soldering, In Circuit Test, Functional Test/Bench Test, HALT test, HASS test, Burn In Test, Electronics Debugging).
Familiarity with RF propagation and dispersion.
Exposure to test equip
