Description Laboratory Assistant - Clinical Lab Department at Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, WA Assists the medical technologist in coordination and performance of clinical laboratory work. Proficiently obtains blood samples from patients of all ages while maintaining an attitude of courtesy and professionalism. Processes and accessions specimens and associated paperwork according to procedure. Under the supervision of the Medical Technologist, performs preliminary steps of clinical testing, including culture set-up, urinalysis dipstick and slide preparation, automated and manual test set-up in chemistry and hematology. Performs some Laboratory Information System (LIS) and equipment maintenance. May be performs blood bank activities, including checking blood in and out, and coordinating code and uncrossmatched blood emergencies with nursing personnel and Blood center. Able to adapt to a varied and hectic work environment. Some analysis and adaptive thinking is required in the application of operating procedures or technical methods to work problems. Shift Details: Supplemental/On-Call, Variable shift Required Qualifications: Upon hire: Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification 1 year Working experience in a clinical laboratory environment, including phlebotomy experience with adults, children, and infants. Preferred Qualifications: Coursework/Training Technical coursework in clinical laboratory science, phlebotomy, or medical assistance. Experience with clinical tasks similar to those of this position.
