North Central Care & Rehabilitation Housekeeping Services Director in Spokane, Washington

Job Summary

This position is responsible for all housekeeping operations including hiring, training, and supervising housekeeping staff.

Perform day-to-day activities of the housekeeping and laundry department in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards and regulations that govern the facility. Assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

Essential Duties

Adheres to and conveys the philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.

Supervise the day-to-day housekeeping functions of assigned personnel.

Must have high standards of cleanliness, have the ability to work within budgetary guidelines, and be able to coach staff to do the job.

Assign personnel to specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments. Coordinate daily housekeeping services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.

Ensure that personnel is performing assigning tasks in accordance with established housekeeping procedures.

Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner.

Ensure that housekeeping and laundry personnel follows the established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.

Ensure that established infection control practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures. Perform housekeeping tasks as required by facility, policies and procedures and standards of excellence.

Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc. and maintain the appearance of housekeeping areas in a safe, clean, and comfortable manner.

Notifies maintenance when housekeeping or laundry machinery is in need of service or repair.

Knowledge of applicable state regulations. Experience with cost management and budgeting. Demonstrate knowledge of infection control, hazardous waste, disaster plan, etc.

Has compassion and special interest in working with the senior population. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed to meet the requirements of this position.

Available for on-call emergencies. Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.

Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.

Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.

Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning at.

Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing housekeeping practices.

Must be able to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, procedures, etc.

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.

Must able to relate to, and work with: ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and (at times) hostile people within the facility.

Must be able to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc., throughout the work day.

Works in all areas of the facility.

Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.

Is subject to frequent interruptions and may need to reschedule cleaning activities.

Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
