The Opportunity with McKinstry
We are currently in search of a Project Engineer for our Fire Sprinkler team in Spokane. Our Fire Protection tema focuses on the design and installation of specialized fire sprinkler and suppression systems that mitigate the risk of potential fires in the built environment. Preventing significant building damage or loss of life from fire in commercial, residential, healthcare, or institutional facility requires more than a few sprinkler heads. We’ve been delivering fire protection and sprinkler solutions for more than 30 years. Our comprehensive expertise and experience ensure all fire sprinkler systems work in harmony.
This person will develop and manage project plans, schedules, and scopes of work on multi-million dollar projects. You’re great at:
Project Management
• Identifies required resources to achieve project goals.
• Generates preliminary assessments, technical solutions, fee proposals, presentations, studies, and general support.
• Transitions project management and engineer activities from design to construction phase and construction to completion phase.
• Communicates with the General Contractor, Architect, Engineer, Owner, and other stakeholders.
Project Controls
• Assumes financial responsibility for the project including accurate, timely, and relevant reporting to stakeholders.
• Facilitates invoice payments from clients and to subcontractors.
• Prepares client and subcontractor change orders.
• Monitors, controls, and reports on the financial performance of projects.
• Prepares or supervises the preparation of Submittals, Operation & Maintenance Manuals, Expediting Reports, Change Order Log, RFI log, Correspondence Log, etc.
Team Management
• Coaches and mentors project team members.
• Develops project staffing plans to include labor, subcontractors, etc.
• Acts as steward of McKinstry culture; communicates and influences policies and procedures.
• Establishes and leads associated meetings. Other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or comparable degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge of construction concepts preferred.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals, estimates preferred.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite required, working knowledge of Salesforce, ViewPoint and Accubid preferred.

The pay range for this position is $24.36 - $39.46 per hour; however, base pay offered my vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
