Job Description:

The Network Engineer plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing computer networks. Their primary purpose is to ensure that the network infrastructure is robust, efficient, and secure, enabling seamless communication and data exchange across various devices and systems. The Network Engineer is responsible for configuring network hardware, such as routers and switches, monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing security measures to protect against cyber threats. By maintaining optimal network functionality, the Network Engineer supports the overall productivity and operational efficiency of the organization, ensuring that employees can access the resources they need without interruption.

  • Designing Network Solutions: Creating network architecture and solutions that meet organizational needs.
  • Implementing Networks: Installing and configuring network hardware and software.
  • Monitoring Performance: Continuously monitoring network performance to ensure optimal operation.
  • Troubleshooting Issues: Diagnosing and resolving network problems promptly.
  • Ensuring Security: Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect the network from threats.
  • Maintaining Documentation: Keeping detailed records of network configurations, changes, and issues.
  • Upgrading Systems: Planning and executing network upgrades and expansions.
  • Collaborating with Teams: Working with other IT professionals and business partners to integrate network solutions with other systems.
  • Providing Support: Offering technical support and guidance to users and other IT staff.
  • Staying Updated: Keeping up-to-date with the latest networking technologies and best practices.
  • Voice and Collaboration: Responsible for Network and Voice Infrastructure uptime commitments to Business.
  • Other: Perform other duties and responsibilities as set forth by IT Management.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field is required. Eight years of related experience can be used instead of a degree. A high school diploma or equivalent is still required.
  • Minimum five years of related experience required.
  • Experience managing servers, LAN, IP Phone, and WAN systems analysis and support required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems and identify/document root causes.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required
  • Advanced vocational/specialized knowledge.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required.
  • Awareness of Cisco switches, ASAs, ISRs, Cisco/Meraki access points, VNC, MPLS, VPNs, Cisco Call Manager, and ITIL Governance standards is required.

     

Preferred Qualifications:

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) - desired
