Contec, Inc. RandD Packaging Engineer in Spartanburg, South Carolina

**[SUMMARY [At Contec, the RandD Packaging Engineer designs and develops flexible, rigid packaging for critical end users. The Engineer guides packaging options and proposes improvements to packaging in support of Contecs various business units (pharmaceutical, medical device, healthcare, aerospace, etc.). This position will develop prototypes, trial new products and practices, and setup new parts that meet customer expectations.

  • Designs, experiments, prototypes, scales up and validates both new packaging and packaging processes to meet critical and quality characteristics.
  • Designs and develops functional and cost-effective packaging options for various products.
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting for packaging-related issues during production.
  • Analyzes and generates engineering drawings and specifications of products to determine physical property requirements and details the type of materials.
  • Conducts packaging testing and validation, including physical and environmental stress testing and AAMI ISO testing, to ensure product integrity during shipping, handling, irradiation, and storage.
  • Utilizes CAD software and other design tools to create packaging prototypes and mock-ups.
  • Develops and preserves the fundamental intellectual property and process knowledge for Contec products by [writing]{#Intm1XNaaEi} reports and creating drawings, specifications, and validations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to ensure the feasibility and scalability of packaging solutions.
  • Generates all documentation needed for ISO/EPA/FDA parts (i.e., OQ, PQ, PDR).
  • Develops knowledge of regulatory requirements for Contecs products ([EPA]{#IntsSnOmAaS}, [FDA]{#IntQ4raDwkE}, TGA, etc.) and industry standards (ISO, REACH, WHMIS, GHS, etc.) applicable to the market and product line.
  • Participates and works within ISO 9001 quality standards guidelines in accordance with Contecs quality goals.

  • Proficiency in CAD Software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and Adobe Illustrator with working experience in conducting modeling simulations is required.
