Fermentation Operator III

Working under the supervision of the Fermentation Departmental Superintendent, the full-time Operator III’s responsibilities require the ability to perform various duties in an industrial environment and include, but are not limited to the following items.

  • Add or mix chemicals and ingredients for processing, using hand tools or other devices.

  • Clean and maintain equipment in a safe and orderly condition.

  • Collect samples of materials or products for laboratory testing.

  • Interpret laboratory data and make necessary adjustments to operate within established parameters.

  • Dump or pour specified amounts of materials into machinery and equipment for processing.

  • Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually, in order to ensure conformance to established standards.

  • Observe production and monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

  • Operate chemical processing equipment, i.e., pumps, valves, agitators, pressure vessels, etc ., in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Read work orders, Standard Operating Procedures, directions, and guidelines to determine production specifications and information.

  • Determine chemical amounts using basic mathematics for making up tanks.

  • Transfer materials, supplies, and products between work areas, using moving equipment and hand tools as needed.

  • All duties performed must follow ADM and OSHA safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Quality Assurance (QA) specifications.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this job include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to read, write and scheduling.

  • Computer literacy, i.e., keyboarding and mouse use.

  • Ability to work a 12 hour rotating shift schedule.

  • Ability to work well as part of a team.

  • Ability to drive a forklift.

  • Ability to work at high heights.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Knowledge and experience in an industrial environment is a plus.

Minimum qualifications required for this job include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment drug test and background check.

ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.
