Description

We are currently seeking a skilled Medical Biller to join our non-profit client in South San Francisco! If you are detail-oriented, possess strong analytical skills, and have experience in medical billing, we want to hear from you.

Position Overview:

As a Medical Biller, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of medical claims and invoices. Your responsibilities will include coding diagnoses and procedures, submitting claims to insurance companies, and following up on outstanding accounts. This position requires a thorough understanding of medical billing procedures, as well as proficiency in relevant software and coding systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Claims Processing:

  • Review medical records and assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes.

  • Prepare and submit insurance claims electronically or by paper.

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility.

  • Monitor claim status and follow up on denials or rejections.

  • Billing and Invoicing:

  • Generate patient statements and invoices for services rendered.

  • Calculate patient co-payments, deductibles, and other financial responsibilities.

  • Ensure accurate and timely billing of services to patients and insurance companies.

  • Payment Processing:

  • Post payments received from insurance companies and patients.

  • Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies in payments or billing.

  • Process refunds or adjustments as necessary.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of billing activities and correspondence.

  • Generate reports on billing and collections performance as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and coding guidelines.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical billing preferred.

  • 3 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.

  • Proficiency in medical coding systems (e.g., CPT, ICD-10) and billing software.

  • Strong understanding of insurance guidelines and reimbursement processes.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
