Catamount Ski Resort Winter Lift Attendant in South Egremont, Massachusetts

Job Summary Lift operators are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of chair lifts and the safety of the customers that use them. Lift operators spend their days outdoors helping customers, of all skill levels, load and unload from lifts, in all kinds of weather. The job of a lift operator is critical to the success of Catamount. Job Tasks/Responsibilities - Responsible for the safety of fellow employees, and guests, and for personal safety. - Provide excellent courteous customer service and create positive memories for the guests. - Operate the assigned lift safely and efficiently according to regulations and guidelines. - Inspects records and reports/monitors conditions of all lift machinery. - Execute the safe, efficient and courteous loading, seating, and unloading of skiers and snowboarders. - Provide physical assistance to guests as required. - Manage the flow and maintain the condition of assigned lift area including shoveling, raking, salting, etc. - Maintain safe levels of snow throughout the entire lift station area and maintain safe walking surfaces. - Ensure guests have proper credentials to access the lift system. - Stop or slow the lift for safety and emergency purposes. - Performs daily pre-operational checks and inspections to ensure safe operation of lift. - Responds to and reports emergencies and accidents following proper procedures. - Maintain good working relationship and communicate work instructions with co-workers. - Receive daily working instructions from Supervisor. - Perform other physical labor as needed. Qualifications & Experience - Ability to work harmoniously/diplomatically with a variety of people including the public. - Possess excellent employee and customer service skills and enjoy working with the public. - Employees visible to the public must wear uniforms. - Able to use two-way radios (both speaking and hearing instructions). - Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays. - Drug-free workplace, may be subject to drug screening and/or background check. - Ability to speak and read English, comprehend simple instructions and respond to questions. - Ability to maintain written logs, writing reports, and checklists. Physical Demands While performing this job, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme temperature variations, outside weather conditions, including snow, sleet, and freezing rain. The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally very loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: - Stand all day in cold weather. - Bend and scoop heavy wet snow (snow shoveling). - Use hands to finger, handle, or manipulate. - Walk at will over rugged snowy/icy terrain, climb and hike mountain trails. - Reach overhead with hands and arms. - Lift and/or move 50+ pounds. - Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
