TITLE: Photographer

DEPARTMENT: Communications and Marketing

SALARY: $43,888.08

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works with students and all levels of university faculty and staff as well as high level donors, alumni, and community partners and vendors, video production, shooting and editing a diverse range of videography projects and photography on campus including the scheduling/coordinating of photo shoots and their archival.

Responsible for all technical tasks related to pre-production, production and post-production of video and photo projects, including care of equipment, transportation of, operation of and maintenance of university video and photography equipment.

Fully produces high-quality promotional and informational videos and photos for schools, colleges, and departments on campus in an accurate and timely fashion.

Creates videos that capture and prompt audiences to watch and view other university videos while maintaining current subscribers and attracting new viewers.

Finds and identifies quality topics.

Sets up and handles equipment (lights, cameras, audio devices, etc.), including the successful storing, organization, and upkeep of equipment.

Arranges pre-production meetings and develops scripts and storyboard concepts for videos/streaming commercials and/or other video projects.

Updates and maintains pages/files as necessary (i.e., adding captions to videos to be in compliance with ADA Regulations).

Supports the overall mission of the Office of Communications and Marketing in the development of video elements, including finding interview subjects, generating graphics, and presenting video to clients and other groups.

Performs all duties in compliance with applicable University policies and procedures and state and federal requirements. Maintains archive of signed consent and release forms.

Maintains confidentiality of designated information.

Assists in mentoring any student workers and/or interns in the above-mentioned tasks.

Maintains schedule of all photography and video productions as assigned through the Office of Communications and Marketing.

Organizes, maintains, and updates OCMs photo and video asset management system and archives.

Responds to requests for images, videos; providing access while maintaining integrity of historical archives and digital assets and complying with copyright and intellectual property laws.

Verifies integrity of media files; specify and implement quality control procedures.

Coordinates logistics for media, video and photo opportunities (scheduling, venue, communication with staff, etc.)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identifies basic and complex photography projects for use in a variety of marketing and communications needs; sets timelines, determines desired images and picture composition, and selects and adjusts subjects, equipment, and lighting to achieve desired effects.

Captures, develops, and edits film and digital photographs using various software including Adobe Creative Suite, adjusting to formatting specifications of marketing and communications project needs, audiences, and platforms; may delegate basic editing tasks to Photography Assistant(s).

Regularly consults with marketing and communications staff and other key stakeholders to determine project needs and ensure photographic elements align with strategy and objectives.

Maintains photographic equipment, including photo lab equipment, lenses, lights, and cameras, inventory; performs basic and more complex equipment repairs.

Seeks input from peers and stakeholders on a variety of photography projects to evaluate effectiveness of different aesthetics, lighting, images, etc.

May provide guidance to Photography Assistants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience eyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.

Bachelor's degree in photography, art, or related field required
