The Sanctuary of Holy Cross LTC in South Bend, Indiana, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Nurse Scheduler (Staffing Coordinator) to manage and oversee staff scheduling. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that our facility is adequately staffed at all times, supporting our mission to provide compassionate, high-quality care to residents. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to handle last-minute changes, and experience in healthcare scheduling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain staff schedules for nursing and caregiving personnel.

  • Ensure proper staffing levels are met to comply with state regulations and facility policies.

  • Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate call-offs, vacations, and staff shortages.

  • Communicate with employees regarding shift assignments, schedule changes, and coverage needs.

  • Maintain accurate records of schedules, attendance, and time-off requests.

  • Collaborate with the nursing department and administration to optimize staffing efficiency.

  • Utilize scheduling software and maintain electronic and paper records.

  • Assist with payroll processing by ensuring accurate timekeeping.

  • Support recruitment efforts by identifying coverage gaps and working with HR on hiring needs.

  • Address scheduling concerns and conflicts professionally and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred.

  • Previous experience in healthcare scheduling (1-3 years), preferably in a long-term care or nursing home setting.

  • Proficiency in scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make quick staffing adjustments.

  • Knowledge of Indiana state regulations regarding staffing requirements in long-term care facilities is a plus.
