Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health Somerset is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for our Mother and Baby Unit.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • ASN or Nursing Diploma, Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

  • 2 years of mother and baby experience

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Proficient computer skills

Preferred:

  • BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire

  • Previous Acute Care experience preferred

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • BLS, NRP certification

  • ACLS within 6 months of hire

  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem Nights

Essential Functions:

  • Work Environment & Hazards, Exposure to blood, excrement & odors, Exposure to infections & communicable diseases, Potential exposure to hazardous materials & communicable disease.

Special Physical Demands

  • A physical condition is required that permits reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, walking & standing for most of the shift, Must be able to function under rapidly changing & stressful conditions.

Diagnostic & Monitoring Function

  • Accurately detects & documents significant changes in a patient s physiological, psychological, cultural & spiritual condition & needs for nursing care based upon a detailed assessment reflective of each patient s status

  • Demonstrates the ability to interpret & diagnose changes in patient s condition, plan appropriate interventions to achieve expected outcomes, document changes, interventions & outcomes, with regard to the knowledge & skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit, i,e, Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent adult & Geriatric

  • Anticipate problems that might arise in frequently occurring clinical situation, Collaborates well with physicians & other health care team members to determine appropriate interventions, Administering & Monitoring Therapeutic Interventions & Regimens

  • Perform, adapt & safely demonstrate procedures required by patients according to policies & procedures, Administers medications accurately & safely, Documents according to policies & procedures, Performs, demonstrates & documents technical skills specific to the nursing unit, Monitoring & ensuring the Quality of Health Care Practices

  • Ensuring the delivery of safe & quality patient care by facilitating appropriate responses from other healthy team members participating in quality monitoring activities, Collaborates with members of the health care team, Attends unit-based performance quality-safety meetings, identifying important aspects of care, & contributing to the maintenance & improvement of care
