Position requires face-to-face instruction and on-site presence at the Slippery Rock University campus. Student consultation hours (minimum of 5 hours on three different days) are expected. The position requires performing research involving undergraduates and serving on department, college, and university-level committees.
Position Summary Information
Position Summary
Slippery Rock University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Geosciences beginning August 2025. Teaching responsibilities include the following undergraduate-level courses:
Analytical chemistry (lecture and laboratory)
Instrumental Analysis (lecture and laboratory)
General Chemistry (lecture and laboratory)
Science for general education
Additional courses as needed.
It is expected that the successful candidate will bring a passion for teaching diverse populations of students, establish a research program involving undergraduates, actively participate in academic advising, and serve on committees at the department, college, and university-levels
The successful candidate will also be required to hold a minimum of five student consultation hours on at least three different days.
The courses in the Chemistry program are taught on Slippery Rock University’s main campus.
Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. or A.B.D. in chemistry or closely related field. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills. A successful on-campus interview, including teaching and research presentations, is required. A commitment to the education of diverse populations is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
A specialization in analytical chemistry or instrumentation. Experience u maintaining analytical equipment such as a gas chromatography mass spectrometer, liquid chromatography mass spectrometer, visible spectrophotometer, fluorimeter, infrared spectrophotometer, inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometer, and atomic absorption spectrophotometer.
