OPEN UNTIL FILLED... SALARY: D.O.E. HOURS: Generally, 8 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, and frequently requires evening work for special events and meetings.

SUMMARY: The Director is a dynamic individual who will lead the Human Resources operations with a commitment to nurturing a culture of service that enhances the employee experience. This position is responsible for supporting all aspects of the employee life cycle and will have the capacity and experience to understand a wide range of issues and the strategic insight to provide day-to-day support and/or oversight of administrative and operational functions. As a key member of the Presidents Leadership Team, the Director assists in planning and executing executive and administrative duties and policy development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Administrative Build and nurture relationships to serve as a resource for the President and act as point of contact for constituents to resolve complex issues. Understand the needs and concerns of complex workgroups, find common ground, and build consensus. Advise the President on day-to-day operations, ensure efficiency and effectiveness, and optimize resources. Engage with all employee groups to meet needs, develop programs, and respond to needs of the workforce. Provide leadership and participate on shared governance processes. Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the SWCs overall strategic objectives and plans. Lead change management initiatives to support the administration. Conduct employee data audits and identifies needed modifications. Assist with building SWCs compensation philosophy. Help employees understand total compensation. Assist with processing annual compensation analyses, which may include data collection, calculations, and/or formal notification generation. Ensure Human Resources compliance is achieved. Maintain up-to-date personnel records and performs credential audits to ensure compliance with accreditation standards Administer employee benefit plans including but not limited to enrollments, terminations, employee contributions, monthly billings, and assists in resolving employee issues regarding benefit plans. Ensure effective communications and implementation. Ensure accuracy of the monthly Board of Trustees of HR metrics. Attend Board meetings. Participate on SWC committees and in faculty/staff meetings. Complies with all College, Tribal, and Federal policies, regulations and laws that govern the College. Assist with payroll processing as necessary. Other duties as assigned.

Talent Management Manage full-cycle recruitment processes, including job postings, applicant screening and interviewing using an evidence-based approach as well as a screening committee model. Conduct search advocate training. Collaborate with supervisors to identify staffing needs and ensure timely and effective hiring. Guide managers through the position authorization process, and work collaboratively with management to design job descriptions and interview questions for effective recruitment. Conduct exit interviews, assess employee feedback, and evaluate the data to make recommendations for improvements to management. Maintain and update the HR module to assure correct integration to the payroll system.

Employee Relations Serve as a resource for employees and supervisors in preventing and/or resolving employee relation issues. Assist supervisors with creating effective performance improvement plans, corrective action plans, or other documentation in an effort to improve employee performance. Coach, counsel, and guide managers through the execution of employee disciplinary action process. Maintain and track all employee disciplinary actions and investigations for assigned employee groups. Management of the leaves of absence process including FMLA for assigned employee groups. Mediate and conciliate employee complaints and/or grievances. Resolve issues within policy and ethical operations.

Organization and E ployee Development Coordinate and facilitate staff development, training activities, and opportunities to ensure employees are equipped with the skills and knowledge to thrive. Conduct periodical climate assessments.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in Business, Administration, Human Resources, Education, Organizational Management or related field and/or a combination of related work experience. Must be friendly and enjoy working with people. Demonstrated work experience in a people-oriented position that understands the needs and concerns of complex workgroups, finding common ground, and building consensus. Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Commitment to open and honest communication at all times. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Possess sound and strategic judgement necessary to make critical administrative and procedural decisions. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion in working with highly sensitive, proprietary information. Skill in managing and supporting a high-level team approach through employee development and performance management. Demonstrated experience in facilitating effective meetings and collaborative processes. Demonstrated experience in thoughtfully managing conflict. Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to a changing environment. Ability to travel and work evening hours as when needed.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Masters Degree in a related field. Two years experience working in Human Resources. Two years experience in managing employee relations resolving complex employee relations issues. Experience working with health/welfare benefits, worker's compensation, and/or classification/compensation systems. Experience with Board policy development and implementation. Mediation skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed in a typical office work environment. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling of objects. Occasional lifting and carrying of light to moderate objects. Travel to activities, meetings, and community engagements as required.
