    Job Summary

    The Director of Behavioral Health Services (BHS) is responsible to a patient care executive and manages BHS patient care. The Director of BHS allocates available resources to promote efficient, effective, and compassionate nursing care, provide input into executive-level decisions, and keep staff informed of executive-level activities. The Director of BHS coordinates activities between defined areas, and provide clinical and administrative leadership and expertise. They facilitate an atmosphere of interactive management and the development of collegial relationships among nursing personnel and others. They serve as a link between nursing personnel and other health care disciplines throughout the organization. The Director of BHS has major responsibility for the implementation of the vision, mission, plans, and standards of the organization and nursing services within their defined areas of responsibility. Works actively with physicians and other professionals who practice on the BHS Inpatient Units to establish treatment curriculum with core content and overall treatment philosophy. Develops and enhances relationships with external referral agencies and physicians and other professionals. Will provide limited clinical services to patients as determined is the best fit for the candidate.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsible include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees. Planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in social work, counseling or other healthcare related field required or have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

  • Two to three years of leadership experience is required.

    Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) Certification is preferred.

  • Certification in area of responsibility within 3 years of hire into the position required.

    Hours

  • Monday – Friday

  • Primarily Days with possible evening/weekend involvement as well as on call at times.
