Principal Responsibilities:

In this position, the Composite/Insulation Technician must be able to fabricate composite and insulation components, which may include bond prep, tool prep, ply kit generation, amination, de-molding, trimming, stitching, finishing, core fabrication, bond work, etc. in accordance with all engineering drawings, supplemental documentation, and specifications. The completed mold and assemblies must be capable of passing all engineering requirements, which may include visual inspection, pressure/leakage testing, and other requirements as specified.

Basic Qualifications (Job Requirements):

Must be able to cut, bond, smooth over a variety of dissimilar materials (composite, metal, or laminate) assemblies, parts, skins, components, equipment, or structures into semi-finished or finished products using tooling/fixtures and shop aids.

Must be able to build, vacuum bag, cure, using air circulator ovens or autoclave

Must be able to be able to use cements, coatings, release agents, sealants, and plastic laminators

Must be able to Recognize differences among insulation materials and fabric coverings

Must be able to inspect their own work; work with dial calipers, micrometers, tape measure, weight scales, pie tapes, and other measuring equipment as required.

Must be able to work within the operational (work order) standards, blueprint, specs and shop aids to increase efficiency and throughput of assemblies and subassemblies.

Must be able to work without direct supervision.

Must be capable of training other employees.

Must be able to maintain a high-level of quality and workmanship.

Must maintain a clean working environment for all machines, tools, and equipment.

Must be able to perform routine duties and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience:

High School Graduate or GED, 0-4 years work experience in a manufacturing aerospace company.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must be able to read, write and speak English is required. Familiar with computer is helpful.

Must have a knowledge of and ability to read, interpret and apply applicable blueprints and specifications

necessary to effectively perform duties as applied to work assignments within specific areas of assigned responsibility.

Essential Physical/Mental Abilities Required:

Employee is regularly required to stand, reach with hands and arms, required to walk and sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the individual occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the individual may be required to wear safety protection gear.

The pay range for this position is from $20.67 to $30.00 (hourly).
