EnCompass LLC Senior Payroll Specialist (Temporary 4 month) in Silver Spring, Maryland

Position Description

EnCompass LLCis seeking aSenior Payroll Specialistto support our Finance Team with payroll and other administrative functions to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations.

This is a full-time position located at the EnCompass principal office in Silver Spring, Maryland, and follows the EnCompass flexible hybrid work model with split time between telework and the office.

Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship for a work visa or permit.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Essential functions:

  • Payroll Administration
    • Reviews and analyzes timesheets reports from CostPoint for accuracy and ensures accurate posting to projects. Follows up with staff when adjustments and corrections are needed.
    • Maintains employee records in ADP and accounting software
    • Processes semi-monthly payroll for 300+ employees in ADP
    • Works with tax agencies when issues arise
    • Assists with various payroll reconciliations, i.e., quarterly 941 and 401k
    • Works with HR department to reconciles benefit
  • Recordkeeping
    • Oversees integrity of financial and consultant files (paper and electronic) and documents, providing guidance to the finance assistant as needed
    • Prepares appropriate schedules and reports as requested by team members and clients
    • Coordinates and prepares pertinent information for external accounting firm and auditors
  • Provides excellent customer service and problem resolution for both internal and external partners
  • Analyzes and recommend improvements, adaptation, or revisions to the payroll system and accompanying procedures
  • Engages fully as a member of the EnCompass staff team, including participating in staff meetings and other EnCompass events
  • Other duties, as assigned
Position Requirements

Qualifications

Academic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and 10 years of experience; Associates degree and 8 years of experience; or Bachelors degree and 6 years of experience. Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.

Experience and Skills

  • Proficiency in ADP
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Ability to maintain meticulous attention to detail resulting in work reflecting a high degree of accuracy
  • Exhibit dependability, reliability and a willingness to work outside required set hours when deadlines require
  • Adept at identifying and framing problems, setting priorities, and making critical assessments
  • Excellent management, organization, communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize assignments and meet required deadlines
  • Communicate credibly and diplomatically with all levels in an organization
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage immediate requests, and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
  • Ability to work in an appreciative, strengths-based environment and to guide others in using appreciative approaches

The pay range for this role allows for the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. At EnCompass, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is$74,500-$88,000.
