Global Communities Director, Talent Management & Organizational Development in Silver Spring, Maryland

The Director, Talent Management and Organizational Development (TMOD), under the leadership of the Chief People Officer leads the HR Talent Management & Organizational Development team. This position partners with senior HR leadership to aid in the development and implementation of all Talent Acquisition, Talent Management and Organizational Development, and Learning and Development deliverables.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibility Area: Talent Acquisition

  • Develop departmental and organizational strategies to attract, recruit and retain staff across various business lines (Global Support Team, Humanitarian Assistance, Global Programs)

  • Own the onboarding and orientation process for new hires and reboarding processes for existing organizational talent, identifying opportunities to embed the organization’s mission, vision and history into new hire experiences

  • Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g. Business Development and Humanitarian Assistance) to realize strategies to plan surge recruitment for proposal contingent and emergency response recruitment

  • Track and report on metrics and key performance indicators to People and Executive Team leadership

  • Proactively identify opportunities to embed principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, access and belonging (DEIB) throughout talent acquisition processes

  • Create, document, and maintain policies, processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Serve as an advisor on best practices in recruitment and monitor trends through the development and nonprofit sectors as they pertain to recruitment

Responsibility Area: Talent Management & Organizational Development

  • Conceptualize and launch the Talent management function within Global Communities with support from the Chief People Officer and Executive Team

  • Develop talent management frameworks and build linkages between talent and performance management, with a focus on talent calibration, career development and

  • Conduct listening sessions and synthesize information geared toward improved employee engagement and organizational culture

  • Plan and executive annual talent calibration activities to optimize internal talent and inform talent acquisition/workforce development initiatives

  • Collaborate with Talent Management and Learning and Development teams to develop organizational competencies aligned to organizational mission and vision ‘

  • Build succession plans to ensure business continuity and internal mobility in partnership with People and Executive team leadership

  • Oversee the configuration and rollout of ADP modules aligned to talent management processes

Responsibility Area: Learning & Development and DEI

  • Develop and implement roadmap for departmental and organizational learning agenda in partnership with Executive Team leadership, People Team Leadership and the Senior Leadership Team

  • Own LMS delivery and implementation, working with ADP to ensure alignment with organizational needs

  • Provide coaching and consultation to supervisors (people managers) on complex learning and development challenges

  • Advise on partnerships with third party vendors, service providers and consultants as needed to complement existing service delivery

  • Work with Learning & Development Lead to develop core trainings that ensure compliance and mitigate organizational risk (e.g. management training, sexual harassment training, etc.)

  • Establish metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to narrate learning impact, developing reports and other communication for broad organizational audiences

  • Work to ensure that DEIB is embedded across all organizational objectives, work processes and cultural footprint

Responsibility Area: People Leadership

  • Provides direction, coaching and feedback to TMOD leadership across talent acquisition, talent management and learning and development.

  • Build team capacity through trainings, learning sessions, brown bags and other departmental fora

  • Conducts skip levelsand hosts employee listening sessions across these teams to improve the employee experience and retain talent.

Other: Executive Team Support

  • Serve as an advisor and consultant to the Executive team on topics pertaining to training, succession planning, talent calibration, and performance management

  • Transform CEO vision into actionable workplans and initiatives focused on talent management

  • Facilitate executive learning sessions, workplans and other strategic deliverables as assigned

  • Will deliver additional work as assigned by Chief People Officer.

POSITION SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role will be expected to travel 20 percent.

  • Serves as people manager for the leaders of Talent Acquisition, TMOD, Learning & Development and DEI, and the Data Analyst.

  • Promote a culture of excellence, inclusion, learning, support, diversity and innovation

  • Incorporating data and technology into all deliverables to drive consistency, aid in automation and process standardization

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline and a minimum of eight years of related experience or a minimum of 12 years of related work experience; Masters Degree preferred

  • Ten years of experience in HR leadership with experience leading a Talent Management organization preferred.

  • Active Human Resources Certification (e.g. SHRM-CP, PHR, CDR)

  • Ability to coach and develop others.

  • Deep knowledge of HR talent best practices and tools.

  • A passion for the mission and values of Global Communities

Location and Work Schedule

This selected candidate can be based in Silver Spring, MD; San Diego, CA; Ghana, Kenya or Guatemala. Candidates must be authorized to work in their preferred country without any restriction.

This role is on a hybrid/telework schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work at least twice as week (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) from either our San Diego or Silver Spring office and the remainder of the week from an approved remote location.

Salary and Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is between $130,000-$150,000. Salary outside of the US will be based on market and location. Final salary will be based on several factors including qualifications, geographic location, experience, and internal equity. Global Communities provides a comprehensive benefits package; please note that this position is not eligible for allowances.
