  • Has 7 health center sites in underserved communities throughout Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties serving over 34,000 patients.  

  • Oversees several federal, state, and county contracts and/or grants that focus on clinical operations, patient outcomes, and access to care and services.  

  • Provides health assessments for refugees, asylees, and special visa holders for the state of Maryland. The program currently sees around 1,500 patients on an annual basis.  

     

    The Refugee Health Program Administrative Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient functioning of the program by managing various administrative tasks related to patient care and coordination. This role involves scheduling appointments in a timely manner, updating electronic health records in eCW, maintaining timely communication with case workers, scheduling transportation for patients, coordinating translation services for patients, and keeping Excel spreadsheets up to date. 

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate with Resettlement Agencies, Care Coordinators, and manage external requests for refugee health program appointments. 

  • Responsible for the coordination of translation services for all scheduled refugee health program appointments. 

  • Schedule transportation for patients to and from the health center.  

  • Conduct reminder calls to patients to confirm their appointments. 

  • Monitor refugee health program patient list to ensure all patients complete their assessments within 90 days, including scheduling first assessments, re-scheduling no-shows, and verifying that all eligible patients have second assessments scheduled in a timely manner. 

  • Assist with timely data entry into the State of Maryland Health Department MIRIS System is completed and monitored for incomplete MIRIS records. 

     

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Proficient in eCW. 

  • Demonstrated skill handling issues involving high levels of sensitivity and confidentiality. 

  • Demonstrated good judgment. 

  • Detail-oriented; organized planner with the demonstrated ability to respond effectively and efficiently while maintaining flexibility. 

  • Skilled at anticipating problems, creating contingency plans, managing multiple priorities, problem-solving, and organizing logistics.  

  • Ability to persuade and influence, establish personal credibility and trust, and foster collaborative working relationships. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. 

  • Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
