Job Description

If you are an ENGINEERING Professional, Copeland’s Electronics and Control business unit has an exciting opportunity to influence the next generation of variable speed power electronics products. We are looking for a highly motivated Sr. Engineer – Power Electronics to join our Global Power Electronics team. Reporting to the Director of Global Product Sustaining and Manufacturing Engineering - Power Electronics, the Sr. Engineer will be responsible for supporting the development of variable speed drive product platforms for manufacturing and sustaining the appropriate life cycle of these products for growth and profitability.

As a Sr.Engineer – Power Electronics, you will:

  • Coordinate and assist in designing new variable speed drive product platforms for ease of manufacturing, sourcing, best cost, and to meet the life cycle management requirements of the product line

  • Perform Manufacturing Technology Assessment and review Technology pantry for design for manufacturing, testing, and sustaining

  • Develop and coordinate design for manufacturing guidelines, manufacturing tester requirements, and work with Internal and external teams to execute the development and launch of new variable speed drive products

  • Co-ordinate Tester development, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Testing (DFT), Optimizing manufacturing processes and other manufacturing-related activities with the global platform team and Electronics Manufacturing Suppliers including internal manufacturing facilities

  • Assist in developing product specifications, architecture, designs, schedules & cost references to marketing & management as a stakeholder from the product's Life cycle management and manufacturing side

  • Obtain, review, and interpret agency standards to ensure product compliance and coordinate documentation to certification labs to obtain product and agency safety approval

  • Drive cost reduction activities related to design, manufacturing, and component supplier selection including Electronics Manufacturing Suppliers

  • Help Develop partnerships with key competent suppliers, Help negotiate better costs based on the data, and leverage global volumes

  • Responsible for executing Engineering Changes (ECNs) to support production and customers with component obsolescence, root cause analysis of fiend return, and any quality or manufacturing engineering-related activities throughout the life of the products

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCES & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field in electronic design, development, and manufacturing

  • 5-7 years of technical experience for an industrial company with an emphasis on life cycle management of electronics hardware/Firmware designs and manufacturing

  • Demonstrated in-depth technical knowledge of electronics hardware, Firmware, Engineering changes, safety agencies, and manufacturing processes

  • Experience in PCB board layout design concepts, component/supplier selection & electronics assembly manufacturing

  • Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating highly effective working relationships with all levels of personnel within and outside of the organization

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects with a global team simultaneously

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCES & SKILLS:

  • Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field in electronic design

  • Experienced working with customers and safety agencies such as UL/VDE

  • Depth of Experience working with Component and Electronics manufacturing suppliers, negotiating prices, and developing long-term relationships and strategy

  • Electronics product manufacturing, quality, and component engineering experiences

  • Experienced in EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.

  • Experience working with MATLAB, schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation tools.

  • Strong technical project management competencies and problem-solving skills

Flexible Work Schedule – Hybrid Work Option and Core Hours

This role has the flexibility of a hybrid work option up to two days a week and a core hour schedule.

You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers.
