Amphenol Electronics Lab Manager in Sidney, New York

The Role -

Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking an Electronics Lab Manager to work out of its state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY.

The purpose of this position is the Lab Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the testing laboratory within the aerospace production environment. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all lab-related activities, from equipment maintenance to test scheduling, are carried out efficiently and in alignment with production goals. The Lab Owner will act as a key liaison between the lab and external testing facilities while maintaining a high standard of safety and organization within the lab environment.

The key responsibilities of the Electronics Lab Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with Testing of Production Parts:

Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to assist with the testing of components, ensuring tests are carried out efficiently and meet performance requirements.

  • Lab Debug Station Setup:

Design, maintain, and set up debug stations in the lab, ensuring that equipment is in optimal working condition for all testing needs.

  • Test Stand Time Sheet Management:

Monitor and manage the usage of lab test stands by maintaining an accurate time sheet to track testing schedules and equipment utilization.

  • Lab Unit Sign Out:

Oversee the sign-out and return of test units and equipment, ensuring accurate records are maintained for all lab materials.

  • Calibration Schedule Maintenance:

Develop and manage the calibration schedule for all lab equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and certifications.

  • Lab Equipment Management:

Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and organization of lab equipment, ensuring all necessary tools and instruments are available and functioning properly.

  • Setup Relationships with External Test Labs:

Build and maintain strong working relationships with external testing facilities and partners to ensure smooth coordination of outsourced testing needs.

  • Lab Upkeep:

Maintain an organized, clean, and safe lab environment by enforcing best practices for lab safety, cleanliness, and equipment storage.

  • Test Scheduling:

Collaborate with planning and engineering teams to develop, coordinate, and maintain a comprehensive test schedule for production parts and prototypes, ensuring timely completion of testing activities

  • Lab engineering personnel management:

Responsible for training, development, and performance reviews of assigned team members

  • Supervisor and Manager Responsibilities Related to EHS:
  • Ensure safe work practices are being followed by their employees
  • Ensure their direct reports attend required EHS trainings
  • Understand training requirements for tasks that are being performed
  • Ensure incidents and near misses are appropriately reported and corrective actions are implemented

Salary - $80,000 - $125,000

Location -

  • Sidney, NY
  • 30 Minute Drive from Binghamton, NY
  • 20 Minute Drive from Oneonta, NY

The Person -

The key skills and qualities of an Electronics Lab Manager at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Aerospace, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in a lab or production testing environment, ideally within the aerospace industry.
  • Previous experience leading a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in managing calibration and maintenance schedules for lab equipment.
  • Knowledge of aerospace testing standards and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Experience in maintaining test equipment and laboratory safety standards.
  • Proficiency with lab management software and tools is a plus.
