Job Summary

Perform basic tasks as outlined by supervisor to provide temporary (seasonal) assistance within a department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Office/Administrative/Clerical:

  • Perform basic clerical and administrative tasks, including filing, typing, copying and collating documents, preparing mailings, answering phones, etc.

Laboratory:

  • Perform simple laboratory tasks, including glass washing, lab clean-up, etc.

Animal Care:

  • Perform simple animal husbandry tasks, including watering, feeding and cleaning cages.

Facilities/Maintenance:

  • Perform simple maintenance and upkeep on buildings and grounds, including carpentry repairs, exterior and interior painting, minor repairs to equipment, snow removal, etc. as assigned.

  • Perform custodial tasks and simple preventative maintenance.

In all departments:

  • Take proper safety precautions and utilize appropriate safety gear/equipment in the performance of all duties.

  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

The pay range for this position is $17.00/hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) preferred.

  • Experience: None.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

  • Certification/Licensure: None.

  • Other: Must be eligible to work under state and federal regulations. Must be able to understand and follow verbal direction. Typing/computer skills, basic laboratory skills, and/or basic tool skills preferred as appropriate to departmental placement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.

Charles River is committed to helping our partners expedite their preclinical drug development with exceptional safety assessment services, state-of-the-art facilities and expert regulatory guidance. From individual specialty toxicology and IND enabling studies to tailored packages and total laboratory support, our deeply experienced team can design and execute programs that anticipate challenges and avoid roadblocks for a smooth, efficient journey to market. Each year approximately 300 investigational new drug (IND) programs are conducted in our Safety Assessment facilities.
