Minimum Qualifications

LSU Shreveport is currently seeking a dynamic, experienced visual storyteller to enhance the university’s image.

The LSU Shreveport Multimedia Specialist will work in the Media and Public Relations Department of the University within the Chancellor’s Suite. This role will be varied, overseeing multiple projects simultaneously from creation to completion.

Serving as the primary photographer on campus, this person will be responsible for all photography requests across the university, including but not limited to, event photography at various award ceremonies, recruiting orientations and tours, classroom presentations and off-campus events. As the videographer, this person will film, direct and edit both short and long-form video productions, ranging from 15-second advertisements to 15-minute documentaries.

Reporting to the Director of Media and Public Relations, the Multimedia Specialist must work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve success on projects. This person will work closely with other LSUS departments to identify potential projects and establish best practices and workflows to enhance collaboration. The ideal candidate can meet tight deadlines and modify their content for different placements as needed. The Specialist must have an exceptional ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately while remaining creative. This person will also work closely with students and student workers within the department, supervising them on projects as necessary.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal communication skills and be highly organized. They must be a self-starter who can perform tasks appropriately with minimal supervision while contributing to the team. They must also possess impeccable attention to detail and display superb time management as it relates to deadlines. The specialist must also be open to feedback on projects to achieve departmental and university goals.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity and will actively apply DEI and ADA principles into their projects. This person must also be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage all campus video and photography requests via a video and photo shoot calendar, including those during regular business hours, on weekends or after hours as needed.

  • Schedule, organize, and manage video and photo shoots.

  • Supervise student photographers/videographers as needed to ensure adequate coverage of campus events and requests.

  • Work closely with the Communications Specialist and Social Media Specialist to provide assets relevant to written stories, press releases, and social media content for various platforms.

  • Film and conduct interviews, gather necessary b-roll footage, and edit videos to meet the campus's marketing and communication standards and needs.

  • Script and storyboard video projects as necessary.

  • Provide dynamic images for digital and print advertising, editing for appropriate placement.

  • Add motion graphics, lower thirds and captions to video projects.

  • Maintain all photography and videography gear and equipment.

  • Attentively archive and organize valuable photography and video assets for reuse in future projects.

  • Adhere to LSUS’ brand standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a videographer, photographer or related role.

  • Must be a team player who is willing to be creative and strategic.

  • Must be adept at conducting interviews and researching topics online.

  • Physical ability to move and hold recording equipment for long periods.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to set up and take down cameras, microphones, lighting, props and other equipment.

  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom and/or other Adobe applications.

  • Must understand the importance of brand voice.

  • Must be willing to learn new skills as necessary to keep up with current trends.

  • Ability to travel locally as needed.

  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A degree in mass communication, public relations, journalism, cinematography, photography or marketing is preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and OneDrive.

  • Proficiency with After Effects.

Samples should showcase an aptitude for visual storytelling, editing, and photography in varied settings. At least 5 samples across a plethora of styles or placements should be provided.
