Job Title: Controls Maintenance Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a Controls Maintenance Technician with a skillset in industrial maintenance and experience with controls and automation. The ideal candidate will repair and maintain equipment using industry standards and collaborate with other departments to ensure timely completion of repairs. Completing required documents accurately and thoroughly is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain equipment using industry standards.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely completion of repairs.

  • Complete all required documents for production and the department accurately.

  • Work with low (24VDC) and high voltage (up to 480V) circuits.

  • Troubleshoot control circuit issues, perform circuit wiring, and understand logic processes.

  • Install, troubleshoot, and program PLCs, HMIs, VFDs.

  • Work with robotics and understand inverter motor operations, stepper and servo motors, and encoder feedback.

  • Help build PM procedures and spare parts inventory for all automation equipment.

  • Use shop equipment such as mills, lathes, drill presses, band saws, welders, and hydraulic presses.

Essential Skills

  • Preventive maintenance

  • Troubleshooting controls and automated equipment

  • PLC troubleshooting

  • Hydraulics and pneumatics

  • Schematic reading

  • Electrical troubleshooting

  • Maintenance repair

  • Mechanical setup

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Five years of previous Maintenance Technician experience

  • Two years of Controls/Automation Technician experience or completed Controls/Automation degree with industrial maintenance experience

  • Ability to manage time and workload efficiently and independently

  • Highly proficient at electrical troubleshooting and logic processes

  • High level understanding of automation processes and design

  • Previous food industry experience is strongly preferred

  • Strong knowledge of automation software (RSLogix, CCW, FactoryTalk ME, and others)

Work Environment

The role is conducted in a food manufacturing environment with more than 20% of the shift spent in refrigerated production rooms under 50°F. Some overtime is expected, and the ability to lift over 50 lbs on occasion is required. The role also involves responding to off-hour support calls over the phone.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $72000.00/yr.
