JOB SUMMARY
The Physical Therapist administers physical therapy services to patients according to the American Physical Therapy Association and Wyoming State Physical Therapy Standards of Practice. The PT is responsible for evaluating assigned patients and establishing, implementing and overseeing appropriate plans of care for these individuals in order to restore and maximize their function and quality of life.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Practice in a safe manner that minimizes risk to patients, self and others.
Practice in areas of Transitional Care, ICU, Inpatient, Outpatient and Home Health when needed.
Perform patient evaluations and develop appropriate plans of care according to applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
Establish with the patient appropriate and realistic short and long term functional goals.
Administer effective and appropriate treatment interventions that are individualized and adjusted to the needs of each patient for the purpose of meeting their functional goals.
Select and use appropriate, accepted, standardized tests and outcome measures to assess the results of interventions administered.
Communicate effectively and on a regular basis with patients, caregivers and fellow healthcare team members to promote optimal healthcare delivery and progress toward the patient’s functional goals.
Complete documentation related to physical therapy practice in an appropriate, legible and timely manner that is consistent with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
Supervise assistive personnel and students in a manner that assures safe and efficient care.
Attend meetings and serve on committees as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from a nationally accredited school of physical therapy program.
One (1) or more years experience in rehabilitation or in a skilled nursing facility.
Maintain current State of Wyoming licensure through the State Board of Physical Therapy.
Active membership in the APTA and Wyoming State Chapter of Physical Therapy is encouraged.
Participation in related workshops, seminars, and other educational programs is strongly encouraged.
Current BLS certification, required.
Additional Skills
Ability to implement physical therapy treatments and rehabilitation activities. Ability to communicate both orally and in written form.
Ability to assess and evaluate individuals for change in condition. Ability to plan and organize effectively.
